1. Why do you think they whipped Jesus before he was crucified? He was going to suffer greatly just by being crucified.
2. Does it hurt more for you or to see your child or friend be hurt? Why?
3. What must go through the abuser’s mind in order for the abuse to take place?
4. What types of abuse can happen? To whom can they happen?
Prayer
God of the beaten, you know what it is like to have your identity stripped to the point of humiliation. When we are stripped of our identity, let us find identity in you. May your gaze be lifted upon us and find us valued, good, whole and worthy. Bless this new building and the good work that will be done here. There are many who come into this building seeking help and identity. May your healing presence be infused in this building and may they feel your peace as they come through these doors. May they find identity and hope here. Amen.
Ponder on the Journey
The closer we come to each other, the closer we come to God. In abuse, the abuser slowly removes the victim from any good relationships with others. How are you making sure you maintain good relationships with friends outside of your immediate family? How intentional are you about nurturing and maintaining friendships?
