What have been up to???? Healthy Church Initiative...... here is a beginning:
We are working with a consultant and the annual conference to get a fresh start here at Asbury. Things are happening at a fast pace and I often can not keep up. But, I do believe we are making some good progress with our new staff person working on connections and the church leadership thinking and searching for God's vision for the Church. So I just wanted to ask for your prays.... for me, the entire staff, the church and it's leaders here at Asbury. We have a city that needs Jesus and a great place and a great community of believers..... God help us do our best to win the lost and help the needy.
More to come later my friends. Keep on believin' and God bless you all,

I was chastised Wednesday for not writing a blog for a month or more. Sorry for that my friends. I will do better....
Memorial Day is so special to me, because my Mother always took us to the National Cemetery here in Springfield for the Program that day. I have many memories of that day and the time there with the graves, bands, speakers, and flags. Most of us take for granted the freedoms and opportunities we have in the country, but...... others gave years of service and some gave their lives so we can be free. I really believe I owe a debt that can never be paid to the people who have served our country.
Thank You men and women for your service..... your are why I can sleep at night and wake the next morning to freedom!!!!!
I encourage you all to thank a veteran this weekend for the time they gave to our country and if you can go to the National Cemetery, go and ..... pray, listen, and cry...... It will do you good to thank God for the freedom and the people who helped make fredom real.
God Bless you all theis weekend,
Michael

There is a Church Building on South Jefferson I drive by each day at least twice. That's because I hate to drive on Campbell, very dangerous and spiritual as well. This church builing has a sign with changable letters and about every week it changes. This past week it said something like this:
"Often the hardest trials life, can become the greatest blessings"
After the trials I've been having this hit me like a ton of bricks. I often worry and fear what is ahead. I got that from Grandma Blacksher, and I wish I had some of her "nerve pills". Sometimes I complain about how hard things are me. But, I'll give you a secert..... Life is hard for everyone!!!!! At least part of the time. Oh, not all the time and I pray not much of the time, but when it happens it all comes at once. (Murrphys law you know.)
Sooooo..... when I saw that sign: I cried and prayed and I knew God Loves and Cares for us all. And Me too!
I pray for you all, for God's rich blessing on your lives and families, and I remind you of the sign. If you are in the middle of lives trials...... keep the faith....very Good Blessings are ahead. PTL!

The past 3 weeks we have been sharing in worship about the life to come, after this one on earth. I have heard many comments about this worship series. It is a topic that many are concerned with or interested in. As we have the final service this week we will be asking the question:
"How do I get to Heaven?"
As the month of April ends I want to encourage you and yours to continue in the faith of following Christ and leading new folks to a real relationship with God. We have much to do as Christians, much to be sorry for, and many to share Christ with. I pray for you and me and the church and all believers..... that we may renew our passion for the lost. God will bless as we witness to our faith in the real world.

On this Friday it looks and feels like the storms are a comin'. Bring them on, cause we need the rain, but no bad winds or damage.
Last week I read a saying about the storms and rain I just loved:
"Don't sit and wait for the storms to quit, go dance in the rain."
I really love that and I think it is so true to life in general and more so for our spiritual lives with God. I often sit and wait..... did that last week. But, what if you and I got out and danced with Jesus through the storms of life. Wow...... I think that would be sooooo much better. In fact I'm gonna do that soon..... so as I said.
"Bring on the storms.... I'm ready to dance with the Lord!"
