The Love Others Team met on May 1, 2011.

The meeting was attended by: Lisa Thomas, Doug Cline, Kathy Love & Amy Langston.

Discussion Included:

1. Caring Communities.  They have scheduled use of our building with Lynn.  They have addresses of residents categorized into neighborhoods, which may be helpful to Asbury with planning events to involve those in our immediate community.

2. New task of tracking & contacting members who have not attended Worship. Lisa and Dan Scott, are planning to meet and go over the process.

3. Distribution of school supplies to Portland students on “Meet the Teacher Day.” It was suggested we collect school supplies as we did at Christmas when games for Portland were brought in by the congregation.

4. Block Party:  Sat., Aug., 13th.  The Serve The World Team joined us for this discussion.  Serve The World proposed having a Pool Party this summer as we were supporting the Block Party.  After meeting together and much discussion, it was decided to continue on with the Block Party since plans have already been made to have the Della Lamb Children’s Choir perform.  Will revisit the possibility of a pool party next summer.

5. Ideas for fall 2011:

a. Meet The Teacher Day at Portland Elementary.  Joint event with the Serve The World Team.

b. Classes for the community/parents of Portland. Suggestions of involving Caring Communities and Doug Cline suggested contacting Dr. Meyers at MSU.
